archeologia sottomarina alle isole eolie
The title means “Underwater Archaeology in the Aeolian Islands”. The Aeolian Islands are a volcanic archipelago in the Tyrrhenian Sea, off the northern coast of Sicily. The book begins with some of the main historical events concerning the Aeolian Islands, giving context about seafaring, trade, ship traffic, and perhaps disasters that affected ships around the islands. Then it moves on to report what divers and underwater archaeologists have done in the seas around the Aeolian Islands: surveys, excavations, recording of wrecks. The wrecks are treated in chronological order. The book is illustrated: it has photos, drawings (e.g. Caroline Caldwell provided drawings), maps etc., to document the underwater finds and sites.
